Today I held a painting workshop with clients and staff in the main home on-site at Great Elliot's Hill. We had a productive morning painting wooden tiles (the same as used in the Artwork in the Training Room) which I will assemble to make an Artwork that will be displayed in the main home.

The next Project at Elliot's Hill...
As well as continuing on smaller projects at Elliot's Hill I will be undertaking a larger participatory project that will encompass many of the Clients.
The aim of this project is to make a house sign/Artwork for each development. The objectives are that it will be participatory, involving both Clients and staff and made out of clay. I will hold individual and group workshops.
I am currently researching materials and methods.
I held a small experimental workshop and found that; by manipulating, using various tools and pressing found objects in to the clay and we were able to make some interesting shapes, it was also interesting to see the different approaches that people had. It was a simple yet effective process that would be inclusive of all levels of ability.
Artworks by Artist in Residence Heather Parnell, a sculptor and the staff at The Royal Glamorgan Hospital, made using various techniques from pressing things into stoneware clay to drawing on tin.

Pembrokeshire People First
The Mens group.
I spent a lovely morning in Johnston Community Hall with a group of gentlemen that meet every other thursday for a social gathering/creative workshop run by Pembrokeshire people firsts Karen and freelance artist Josie; along with the help of the group board and members and some of their support workers.
We all sat in a circle and were asked to introduce ourselves, say how we felt on a scale of 1 - 10 and what (if anything) we would like to change for ourselves, we played ice-breaking games which seemed to build confidence in the group (myself included) and were a nice way to learn a little more about the different members within the group.
Following this we all looked at images of people that could be considered to be 'different' and by getting into teams of four we each came up with two similarities and two differences thus showing that its ok to be different from each other but more often than not there is common ground if we take the time to look for it.
After a tea-break it was time for the creative workshop, Josie introduced a simple but very effective printing technique so that the group could print onto fabric triangles that will be sewn together to make bunting for the Diamond Jubilee. The workshop was fun and light-hearted and there seemed to be a positive outcome for all of the participants.
At the end of the session we again sat in a circle and everyone said how they felt on a scale of 1 - 10 and the majority (including myself) were feeling much better!
I am hoping to attend the Womens Group workshop next week.
